Alabama students will get updated instruction during social studies classes about Alabama history, global affairs and certain topics like civil rights and the Holocaust, officials decided Thursday.

Marcee Hinds is a history and social studies teacher at Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies, the first public school in Alabama. The school reopened in 2021 and currently serves grades 6-9.
